PowerUp With Electricity

Kindergarten through 1st Grade

This free presentation is designed for kindergarten through 1st grade.

The presentation opens with a discussion about electricity and the many uses for it. Some electrical terms such as “conductor” and “insulator” are introduced and it is explained why people need to be safe around electricity.

This discussion leads into the reading of the book, PowerUp With Me On Electricity, featuring "Chip the LED Kid" giving tips on electrical safety. Student participation is encouraged by reviewing safety tips provided by Chip in the book.

The presentation is concluded with a visit from “Chip, the LED Kid.” Each student is given a coloring book as an additional learning supplement to reinforce what was learned.

The entire presentation takes 25-30 minutes, but can be tailored to meet your time needs.  Normally one session can accommodate up to 75 students, depending on space availability and adult supervision.

A room where Chip can await his arrival time is needed.
