Fees

When you sign up for electric service with Linn County REC, a credit check is done using “Online Utility Exchange”.  This credit check is considered a soft hit and does not affect your credit rating.  If your credit is not approved, a meter deposit equal to the highest bill in a 12 month period at the location for which service is requested will be charged. After your account is paid in full by the due date for six consecutive months, the meter deposit will be applied to your account as a credit.

A $35.00 reconnection fee is required when your service is disconnected for non-payment, and reconnection is made during regular office hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A $75.00 reconnection fee is required for a reconnection after regular office hours. (If any part of the trip is after 4:30 p.m., the $75.00 after hour reconnection fee applies.)

If you request your service be disconnected and then reconnected within a 12 month period of time, a temporary disconnect fee of $52.50 including tax, will be applied to your electric energy bill.

Charges:

Any amount owed after the due date (25th of the month) will be assessed a 1.5% billing late charge.

If our contract meter reader is not able to get a meter reading due to an inaccessible meter, Linn County REC must send an employee to the account to obtain the reading for billing, a $25.00 inaccessible meter charge is made. This charge will appear on your electric energy bill.

A $15.00 returned check charge will be assessed for any checks not honored due to “insufficient funds.”
