2008

IOWA CITY:

The Linn County REC Iowa City geothermal model home was a success. The home  at 2211 Poplar Street in Coralville was showcased during the Iowa City Parade of Homes in June.

General Contractor Randy Hahn of H & H Home Builders designed and built the home with energy efficiency in mind.  The 3,752 square foot house features a 5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system installed by Absolute Comfort.

2007

CEDAR RAPIDS:

Linn County REC showcased its second geothermal model home during the Cedar Rapids Parade of Homes.  We worked with Abode Construction in promoting this geothermal model home located at 5011 Indian Summer Lane SW in the Woodmoor addition in Cedar Rapids.  The 6680 square foot home has a 6 ton geothermal heating and cooling system installed by Air Comfort.  The home features blown fiberglass insulation with R46 ceilings and R21 walls.  Energy efficient windows, electric water heaters and ENERGY STAR® rated electric appliances are also featured in this model home.  Abode Construction received an outstanding achievement award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for building more than 50 ENERGY STAR® qualified homes during the past year.

IOWA CITY:

The Linn County REC Iowa City geothermal model home was a huge success. The home at 2971 High Bluff Drive in Coralville and was showcased in June.

General Contractor Ferrel Construction, Inc. designed and built the Linn County REC model home with energy efficiency in mind.  The 3067 square foot house features a 5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system installed by J & S Geothermal.  It also has many energy efficient updates including windows, R-19 wall insulation and ENERGY STAR® appliances.

2006

CEDAR RAPIDS:

 

Linn County REC showcased its second geothermal model home this year during the Cedar Rapids Parade of Homes in September. 


The Jerry Sunderman Construction home at  370 Evergreen Lane in Robins has a 5.5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system installed by Rabe Hardware Inc.  Geothermal is the most efficient system available on the market today.  The home features blown fiberglass insulation with R46 ceilings and R21 walls. The basement has R20 sprayed foam insulation.  Energy efficient windows, fluorescent and compact fluorescent lighting, electric water heaters and ENERGY STAR® rated electric appliances are also featured in this model home.

 

IOWA CITY:

 

The Iowa City geothermal model home at 4047 Crosheck Road in Solon was built by Boyd Crosby Construction.  The 4700 square foot house features a 5.5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system.

2005

The Linn County REC geothermal model home at 2645 Willow Court NE in North Liberty was built by Baxter Construction. The 2191 square foot house featured a 5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system. Energy efficiency upgrades included: an energy efficient electric water heater, Anderson windows and ENERGY STAR® appliances.

2004

Cedar Rapids Model Home

The Linn County REC geothermal model home at 465 Evergreen Lane in Robins was built by Stately Homes. The 2885 square foot home featured a 5.5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system. Energy efficiency upgrades included: blown fiberglass insulation with R44 ceilings and R19 walls, Crestline Lo-E windows, compact fluorescent lighting, electric water heaters with .93 energy factor and ENERGY STAR® rated electric appliances.

Iowa City Model Home

The Linn County REC geothermal model home at 703 Willow CT, Solon, was built by Don Otto Construction. The 3000 square foot model home featured a 3.5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system. Energy efficiency upgrades included: structural insulated panels, sprayed urethane foam insulation, high efficiency electric water heater, low E argon Pella windows, and ENERGY STAR® rated appliances.

2003

The Linn County REC geothermal model home at 1207 Chambers Ave NW in Fairfax was built by Dave Becicka Construction. It featured a 5 ton geothermal heating and cooling system. Energy efficiency upgrades included: in-floor heat in the basement, electric water heater with .92 energy factor, blown insulation with R-23 walls and R-46 ceilings, low E argon Anderson windows, air exchanger and ENERGY STAR® rated appliances.
